2nd BLUE PORTS Project Meeting in Batumi, Georgia, 10-11 July 2024

The 2nd BLUE PORTS Project Meeting, organised by the project coordinator, the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab of the Technical University of Crete and hosted by the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, took place at the Batumi Maritime Academy Conference Hall in Batumi, Georgia, on the 10th and 11th of July, 2024. The meeting secured full participation of the consortium: Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab, Technical University of Crete (ReSEL TUC), Distretto Ligure delle Tecnologie Marine (DLTM), Fundacion de la Comunidad Valenciana para la investigación, promoción y estudios comerciales de Valenciaport (FV), Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia (MTA), Heraklion Port Authority (HPA) and TÜV Hellas (TÜV NORD).

The BLUE PORTS team focused on:

  • Project progress, achievements so far and next steps for the BLUE PORTS Training Methodology and Certification Scheme development
  • Findings from the Market Survey, conducted in all 4 countries, with the participation of employers and employees from the port ecosystem, to identify current and future skills needs in the sector
  • Design of future consultation meetings of the BLUE PORTS National Technical Committees in Greece, Spain, Italy, Georgia.

Part of the second day was dedicated to a stakeholders’ workshop, bringing together the BLUE PORTS consortium and Georgian National Technical Committee members, aiming to examine future scenarios for the green transition of ports, transfer insights from European policy and practices, highlight the added value of BLUE PORTS certification for the Georgian ports’ workforce and explore opportunities for adoption of the Scheme in the wider Black Sea region.
