BLUE PORTS | D2.6 State of the art report on the BLUE-PORTS common training methodology 7 Port Sustainability Adviser/Officer course objectives: %u2022 Strategic development: ability to develop/assess measures for evaluating comprehensive strategies and action plans for climate change mitigation and adaptation, and for the optimisation and the efficiency of port operations, tailored to the unique needs of small and medium-sized ports.%u2022 Implementation and management: gaining skills to support the implementation and management of sustainability initiatives, including renewable energy projects, carbon reduction programmes, alternative fuels projects and circular economy practices, smart energy management systems, smart mobility systems and artificial intelligence tools.%u2022 Monitoring and evaluation: capability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives and investments, utilising key performance indicators (KPIs), CBA analysis and sustainability reporting frameworks.%u2022 Stakeholders engagement: ability to communicate to, engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and industry partners, to drive sustainability efforts.%u2022 Environmental regulatory compliance: gaining knowledge on regulatory frameworks and how to ensure compliance with environmental laws, and on environmental certifications and ecolabelling systems.Port Sustainability Operator course objectives: %u2022 Technical application of green technologies: ability to operate new green technologies effectively, including cold ironing systems, energy storage solutions, and alternative fuel infrastructures like those for storing and supplying hydrogen and ammonia.%u2022 Operational support for sustainability: gaining the skills to support the operational aspects of the port's green transition, ensuring smooth and efficient integration of sustainable practices into daily port activities.%u2022 Maintenance of green infrastructure: provide knowledge on the maintenance and troubleshooting of green infrastructure, including renewable energy installations, alternative fuels infrastructures, and waste management systems.%u2022 Health, safety, and environmental standards: understanding health, safety, and environmental standards related to new green technologies, particularly in handling hazardous materials, environmental pollution and waste management.%u2022 Operational efficiency and sustainability: learning how to optimize port operations to reduce environmental impact, including strategies for energy efficiency, waste minimization, and pollution control.
