The country will also need to focus on developing skills in cybersecurity and data analytics to support the digitalization of port operations. Greece: Greece%u2019s ports will focus on alternative fuels and renewable energy integration, driven by stringent EU regulations. Training programs should prioritize alternative fuel technologies, as well as skills in environmental protection, waste management. Additionally, there is a need for upskilling in digitalization, automation technologies and circular economy practices.Italy: Italy%u2019s port sector will see significant advancements in biofuels, LNG, and cold ironing technologies by 2030. There will also be a strong focus on innovative mobility solutions and digitalization. The country will need to invest in training for biofuel and LNG technologies, as well as digital skills to manage smart port operations. Strategic planning and sustainability leadership will also be crucial areas for development. Spain: Spain%u2019s ports will prioritize electrification and energy efficiency, alongside advanced waste management and alternative fuels like LNG and hydrogen. There will be a high demand for engineers and technicians with expertise in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and automation systems. Additionally, training in environmental legislation and compliance will be essential to meet future regulatory requirements.STRATEGIC RECOMMENDATIONSBased on the findings of the report, several strategic recommendations have been formulated to address the identified skills gaps and training needs within the port sector, through their integration in the development of the BLUE PORTS training and certification scheme, ensuring that port professionals are well-prepared to meet the demands of environmental sustainability, technological advancement, and operational efficiency.%u2022 Development of a Harmonized Training & Certification Scheme: The BLUE PORTS scheme needs to address the needs and gaps identified across all participating countries, covering key areas such as climate change, energy transition,alternative fuels, digitalization/automation for Green Transition, and circular economy practices. A harmonized approach ensures consistency and comprehensiveness in trainingand certification, enabling port personnel to acquire critical skills and competences that are applicable across various national contexts.%u2022 Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Incorporating continuous learning opportunities through workshops, webinars and refresher courses will keep port personnel updated on the latest technologies, regulatory changes, and
