BLUE PORTS | D2.5 Identification of present and future skills needs 141. INTRODUCTIONThe D2.5 Identification of present and future skills needs to be addressed by the BLUE PORTS Scheme, serves as a comprehensive guide to understanding the evolving skill requirements within the port industry in the context of the Green Transition. This document outlines the methodology used for a market survey and foresight exercise. These exercises aimed to capture the current knowledge and experience of port staff, assess green skill demands, evaluate future scenarios, and prioritize skills for the BLUE PORTS training and certification Scheme. The market survey run from June 19th till July 1st, 2024, in four (4) countries (Georgia, Greece, Italy and Spain), targeting stakeholders across the port ecosystem, including employers andemployees, and gathered comprehensive data on current and future skill sets, educational backgrounds, and professional experiences. This data collection is crucial for identifying emerging trends and future requirements for green skills in the port industry. The foresight exercise, which took place during the 1st National Technical Committee (NTC)1 consultation meeting in each of the four BLUE PORTS countries (April %u2013 May 2024), is a strategic planning tool used to explore potential future developments related to the ecological transition of ports, focuses on identifying and assessing present and future skills needs to support the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized ports by 2030. The exercise engaged NTCs%u2019 members from industry, academia, authorities, and civil society, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the skills required for the Green Transition. The report is structured in three sections: %uf0a7 Methodology: Details the approaches used in the market survey and foresight exercise, including the design, implementation, and analysis strategies. It explains how data was collected, processed, and interpreted to inform the BLUE PORTS Scheme.%uf0a7 Synthesis of Findings: Summarizes the results of the market survey and foresight exercise, highlighting current and future trends in the Blue Economy and Green Transition, as well as the skills and jobs required to meet these trends in the port ecosystem.%uf0a7 Analytical Revie Provides an in-depth analysis of the green skills needs and requirements identified through the exercises. This document offers valuable perspectives on both present and future trends in the Blue Economy and the port industry's transition to sustainability. It serves as a guiding resource for creating an effective BLUE PORTS training and certification program that will equip port personnel with the necessary competencies to drive the Green Transition, thus ensuring ports long-term competitiveness and sustainability. 1 NTCs have been created in the framework of BLUE PORTS as consultative and advisory bodies, contributing to the establishment of solutions for the project's objective.
