BLUE PORTS | D2.5 Identification of present and future skills needs 19As abovementioned, the scenario for the foresight exercise was set in 2030 for small and medium-sized ports. The focus of the scenario was the assessment of future skills needs to be addressed by the BLUE PORTS scheme as well as the target groups. The following is a synopsis of the scenario description:%uf0a7 Blue Economy and sustainability trends: A comprehensive review of the main trends, targets and priorities in the EU in relation to the BLUE PORTS thematic areas was carried out. In addition, the BLUE PORTS partners reviewed the national targets and trends with the aim to include all relevant national priorities in the scenario description and to present them during the exercise conducted during the first NTC meetings.%uf0a7 Port employability trends: Future Green Transition trends and actions in the port sector, such as alternative fuel usage, electrification of port equipment, and renewable energy generation, were analysed. These trends were closely examined to identify tasks and professional profiles essential for supporting the Green Transition.%uf0a7 Green and Blue tasks and skills: Examples of tasks related to renewable energy integration, alternative fuel usage, energy efficiency measures, and environmental management were outlined. Corresponding professional profiles and requisite skills, such as energy transition managers, maintenance engineers, and renewable energy technicians, were identified to provide a comprehensive understanding of the evolving skill landscape. This scenario helped participants to envision the future state of ports and the associated professional profiles considering Blue Economy priorities, as well as port employability trends and skills required, thus guiding discussions on future green-related skills and jobs needs.Similarly, the questions selected also guided the discussion and helped to identify the following points: %uf0a7 Future trends (2030) in the Blue Economy and the Green Transition that affect ports activities and their professional profiles.%uf0a7 The current port recruitment needs and constraints for the Green Transition.%uf0a7 New port employment needs foreseen for the Green Transition by 2030 (jobs that will be created/new profiles that will emerge).%uf0a7 Identification of port jobs expected to be generated for the Green Transition between now and 2030.The questions listed below were the minimum required to be asked for comparability andstandardisation of responses. Nevertheless, further questions were encouraged to improve the conversation and the collection of results during the meetings. The list of questions addressed during the foresight exercise was as follows:
